Some minor correction/additions

• per И.Ф. Цветков Линкор "Октябрьская Революция" Ленинград "Судостроение" 1983 (all dates given in "old style")

• Nikolai I order was a respond to Sultan Osman I and Mahmud Resad V - after 17 March 1914 report to Duma and 24 June 1914 new legislation act increased procurement budget were for Nikolai I was allocated 42. 4 millions of gold rubles - p.113/114

• Each main generator - "Curtiss-AEG" type - 225V/50Hz - p.123
• Contract was signed 13 August 1914 per contract Displacement: - 27300 tonnes, Length: 188m Beam: 29 m Propulsion: 27 300 shp Speed 21 knots. Ship should be presented for way on trials NLT 1 March 1917 and complete it within 4 months.
• Ship was laid down 9 June 1914 (before contract signing)
• Main armament was same as at Imperatritsa Mariya - excluding absolete 47-mm and 75-mm artilery .
• Main armor belt was increased by adding 75mm cemented armour plate behind main 262,5 mm belt
• dovetail joint of armour plate were used
• weight of armour was 9417 tonnes vs 7036 at Imperatritsa Ekaterina.
• In order to speed up a construction and reduce a cost the Propulsion system was derived from Imperatritsa Ekaterina. - so power decreased almost on 2000 hps but speed should remain the same.
• Launched 5 October 1916
• Delayed due the delay in delivery of internal machinery and equipment
• By end of 1916 readiness of turbines and auxilary machinery estimated as approx 50 percent
• By October 1917 readiness of turbines and auxilary machinery remained the same. Boilers reached 71%.

Do you know if the Imperator Nikolai I ever received her 12 inch guns? Were they ever put on her? Also, did she ever have a crew, such as when she came under Ukrainian control? 2601:985:477F:8E50:65EE:D13A:2C30:4D7D (talk) 20:13, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

At only 60% complete, her turrets were probably not yet installed, much less the guns, and I doubt that she had any crewmen assigned yet.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 20:55, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the answer, but wasn’t she 60% complete in April and construction went until October, couldn’t she have had a little more work done by then? Also, we’re any of her secondary guns installed and if yes we’re they ready for action? Lastly, do you think any of her superstructure was installed? True, but the pace of work was decreasing with more striking workers and industrial disruptions. At 60% her barbettes and turbine foundations were being installed and her armor was complete. It's possible that some of her minimal superstructure might have been started, but I strongly doubt that any of her secondary guns had been installed.

Bow design - wrong drawing?

According to the text - and as shown by the photograph - the Imperator Nikolai I had a rearwards-sloping "ice-breaking" bow reminiscent of most German WW1 battleships and the never-finished Borodino/Izmail class battlecruisers, but the drawing shows a bulbous "ram bow" typical of, e.g., British battleships and battlecruisers of the period. Is the drawing a preliminary design or does it actually portray some other boat?--Death Bredon (talk) 08:22, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
