naming

[edit]

According to the Scouting WikiProject, national organizations are named not in English, but in their own primary language. Chris 02:41, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move

[edit]

The rough English translation is not really in use, in most of the Google-Hits it is used only as translation of the russian name. Even the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts lists the association in its membership roll under the transscripted Russian form.

Also the translated form may lead to ambiguities, since there is a number of russian girls-only Scouting organizations. --jergen 06:02, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions

This is an English language wikipedia. There are thousands of Russian organizations. We don't write Ministerstvo Inostranykh Del, we write "Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs" or "Foreign Ministry". And so on. Russian girl scouts are virtually unknown in the west hence hits are of little authority here. You even cannot write its name correctly, and I am not going to teach you. Your "complience with 160 other" means that someone did not think clearly when created them.

If "there is a number of russian girls-only Scouting organizations", and they have the same name, then you cannot help. If the names are different, then what is the problem? `'mikka (t) 08:10, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
