On the subject of the date of *RUN THE JEWELS'* debut
[edit]As in, the date that the very, very first thing that Killer Mike & El-Producto ever released AS RUN THE JEWELS. So no, I don't mean R.A.P. Music NOR DO I MEAN Cancer4Cure. What I mean is: WHY THE HECK do basically NO articles related to RTJ state when - precisely when - RTJ made their official debut?! As in, AFTER those pre-RTJ projects, AFTER the two men had decided to come together to OFFICIALLY form RTJ. The exact date that either their debut release came out (and was it a single, an ep, lp, what??) or the exact date they performed their very first concert AS RTJ. BOTH of those dates should be listed regardless, but whichever one came first should be cited as the exact day that Run The Jewels was born/introduced to the world. And yet none do this. They may APPEAR to, but I'll explain:
Most-to-all of them will say exactly when they first met after some [adult swim] executives introduced them & encouraged a collab, and say exactly when those initial pre-RTJ collaborations (ie R.A.P. Music & Cancer4Cure) were released. And they'll pretty much all say that their debut LP - Run The Jewels (retroactively Run The Jewels 1) - was released on 26 June, 2013. And you might think "well there you go, open & shut." BUT. But...
In the "Release" section of the article for "Run The Jewels 1," their debut album, it says that several singles from that album were released BEFORE the album's 26 June, 2013 release. The first being "Get It," which it claims was released on 19 April, 2013. Yet NO other RTJ related page - not the RTJ group page, nor the Run The Jewels 2, 3, or 4 pages, nor the Killer Mike Page or the El-P one.
And what's really stumping me is that I thought for SURE that the song "Run The Jewels" by Run The Jewels - track 01 of their debut album "Run The Jewels" - was their very first release for obvious reasons, not "Get It." And I'd definitely thought that it'd have it's own article FOR SURE...or at least be MENTIONED in one....yet INEXPLICABLY, neither the Killer Mike page, the El-P page, the Run The Jewels (duo) page, nor the Run The Jewels (album) page EVER AT ANY POINT SAY ANYTHING about Run The Jewels by "Run The Jewels" by Run The Jewels off "Run The Jewels" ANYWHERE, despite it being one of the songs they made a whole ass music video for. None of them say if it was released as a single or when if it was, none of them even so much as say when the INCREDIBLY POPULAR music video was released.
Considering the fact that it's literally "RTJ" by RTJ off "RTJ," I *reeeeally* am inclined to believe that it came out BEFORE "Get It" did. Especially since "Get It" came out on 29 April, 2013. Makes sense for it to have come out on like 20 April, 2013 (4/20, 2013). That seems like a move they'd make. The only upload of the music video iirc is listed as having come out in 2014, but despite that I'm not entirely convinced. Firstly, because it's quite common for a single to come out and then the official music video for it doesn't come until months, maybe even up to a year later and that could be the case here; and secondly, because most music channels on YouTube (record labels, bands, etc) that uploaded music videos back in like 2010, 2011, 2012, even 2013, wound up taking down or privating those videos at various points between 2013 & 2015/2016, then immediately re-uploaded them in 720p Standard HD or 1080p Full HD or 1440p WQHD or 2160p Ultra-HD 4K & 60fps. So RTJ by RTJ off RTJ may very well have come out at some point BEFORE 29 April, 2013 - when "Get It" was released - and Fool's Gold/RTJ just wound up taking it down & reuploading it in 720p SHD/1080p FHD in 2014.
Normally, I look to Wikipedia for answers to these questions, but in this case THERE'S NO DAMN ANSWERS.
And that pissed me tf off.
So I'm venting about it here.
Sorry....this got a bit off the rails kinda quickly....I just want to convey the issue and why I know that Run The Jewels didn't debut on 26 June, 2013 with the release of their first album "Run The Jewels" and why I'm skeptical about whether or not the release of "Get It" on 29 April, 2013 marks their official debut and about whether or not "Run The Jewels" by Run The Jewels - track 01 of their album "Run The Jewels" - actually didn't get released as a single or music video until 2014. Cuz I really want RTJ by RTJ off RTJ to mark the birth of RTJ. Preferably on 20 April, 2013 - aka 4/20, 2013.
I know no one will read this dreck though. I sure as shitits wouldn't. Had to get it out though. Feels gosh DARN good to vent...
