Attack on gravesite of Rukmani Devi
[edit]This is not what happened. Her husband's elder brother BAW Jayamanne had bought a plot in the General Cemetery in Negombo to bury his family members. This plot allows for four graves. Rukmani Devi was buried there. A woman who claimed to be the President of the Rukmani Devi commemorative society, without the appropriate permission from the Jayamanne family which owned the plot, erected a huge structure over the grave of Rukmani Devi in such a way that no one else could be accommodated (buried) in the plot meant for 4 graves. The structure was dismantled by Ananda Munasinghe who was married to the youngest daughter of BAW. 112.134.241.201 (talk) 14:19, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
