POV

[edit]

The controvery section probably needs a re-write. It's too POV near the end of the paragraph. - Shudda talk 03:17, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought about trying to re-write it as NPOV but there was literally nothing that could be saved. Would an understrength All Blacks necessarily thrash England? They might but it is hardly a certainty. Is it so hard to understand the clubs' attitude? Not really. In the end I just deleted it.GordyB 20:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rugby clubs withdraw from the Football Association

[edit]

There should be some mention of the original FA meetings which lead to the diversion between rugby football and the FA's form of football. 174.29.180.83 (talk) 00:22, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is crucial in the history. Before formalisation of the rules which formed into two camps, Association and Rugby, there were many rules. Many clubs had their own rules with visiting teams having to play to their rules. Association rules were laid down in 1863. The rules of the Rugby Football Union were laid down in 1871. Liverpool Football Club, from 1857, not Liverpool Athletic Football Club in the Association Football Premier League, is a rugby club, never having played Association rules - but named a football club. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wisdom-inc (talkcontribs) 11:54, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
