Giovanni Drenthe

[edit]

According to the lead, "Drenthe's younger brother, Giovanni, plays international football for Suriname." There are two questions that arise about this in my mind. 1) Is this appropriate for the lead and 2) Does anyone have a source for this? The Surinamese national team's page doesn't have Giovanni listed as of May 2007, but it doesn't seem very well maintained and a quick Google search shows that a Giovanni Drenthe scored on August 19 2006 for Suriname U-16 against St Vincent and Grenadines U-16 and that he's got a Dutch wiki page. So he exists, but Giovanni certainly doesn't have an English Wikipedia page; should he be mentioned in the opening? Perhaps just in a "Personal Life" section? The Dutch wiki states that Giovanni plays for the Suriname youth teams, not the main squad. It should not be in the intro, in any case. JACOPLANE • 2008-02-12 13:38

Family

[edit]

He is a nephew of Edgar Davids. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.52.223.19 (talk) 18:12, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats true, and it should definitly be added to the artice. When I've been on Youtube, people often say: "He looks a lot like Edgar Davids." You can also check that this is true on the Dutch wikipedia page for Drenthe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.212.174.27 (talk) 11:15, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the claim from the article. The only source mentioning it is a notoriously unreliable German tabloid (Bild). No other newspaper, website, television channel or radio station mentions any relationship between Royston Drenthe and Edgar Davids. This is insufficient sourcing per WP:BLP. 94.212.31.237 (talk) 13:44, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, the Dutch Wikipedia article doesn't make any such claim, and even if it did, it couldn't be used. Wikipedia is not a reliable source, because anyone can add anything to it. 94.212.31.237 (talk) 13:45, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Career

[edit]

On 31st August 2011, Drenthe signs with Everton FC on a season long loan http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14741080.stm

Speaking about that; Real Madrid says that they transferred the registration rights of Drenthe to Everton, while Everton says that they've signed him on loan. So what's up? Did Everton sign him on loan or did Real just dissolve his contract, thus making a free transfer to Everton possible? Lucha-Method (talk) 00:18, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it the registration rights that are loaned, in order to register that player with another club? Bertcocaine (talk) 13:11, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flop at Real

[edit]

This guy is a massive flop and waste of money for Real Madrid - a laughing-stock, who was once hyped as a new Roberto Carlos. This needs to be specified in the article. He wasn't even good enough to warm Real's bench, but was instead shipped out to a small-time club in Everton. SadSwanSong (talk) 05:29, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Then provide a source. Your source doesn't mention any of this. Is your goal in life to go around footballer's pages stating how bad they are? Spc 21 (talk) 12:24, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

NT/PC-update

[edit]

You seem to have a misunderstanding regarding nt/pc-update; if you write 21 March, you will get this outcome: "... correct as of 21 March 2013". It's not for when he last played a game.

Also I have never reverted your edits, Vasco. Only restored some of my own text. – Terje Christiansen (talk) 14:29, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
