copyedit notice

[edit]

Article starts out well but could use copyediting starting with the "History" section. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 16:36, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mistakes

[edit]

The paragraph below seems to have the wrong end date of January 5th?

[1]

There's an dangling reference to Edmund Blandford's book Fatal Decisions: Errors and Blunders. An earlier paragraph with the citation got cut in an earlier edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:648:8400:3A70:F696:34FF:FEB7:CD1B (talk) 19:21, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A raft of style/vocabulary/grammar changes

[edit]

The article is in not bad shape but there are a few glaring errors. I've noted a few privately but have not yet implemented them - I want to finish reviewing the whole article first. One example is the phrase "an old man cartulaire" - there doesn't seem to be a corresponding phrase in the French version of the article, but I think it was a (possibly mechanical) translation of "un vieux cartulaire" ("an old collection"), possibly from another source. There are one or two places that need citations as well.

Just wanted to mention that I'm on the case!(I was in Royan once, and on the beach briefly - 50 years ago! - and it was a beautiful place. I didn't know it was bombed to smithereens during WWII.) AAIRON (talk) 16:05, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
