Work needed

This page needs some work. The two biggest requirements are a good definition of what the flagship is and a full list of past flagships. The current definition is vague and meaningless to the point of absurdity — what is "the main ship" and how is HMS Albion more "main" than any of the other large ships of the Royal Navy? I'm guessing that the flagship used to be the one commanded by the biggest bigwig (forgive my lack of terminology) but that it's now just the designated "lead ship" of the navy. How far back in history can we go and still have the flagship usually being a carrier? Is this just an observation about the last twenty years or is it general policy going back to, say, the Second World War? Dricherby (talk) 10:03, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly agree - a requirements definition is essential. A very good start might be to list the RN fleets starting with the descriptions of the squadrons in Admiral (Royal Navy) -if required - and the historic fleets footnote at the end of Atlantic Fleet (United Kingdom) JRPG (talk) 11:46, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
