on lack of neutrality in the article

[edit]

I made some stylistic changes, notably not repeating "the Royal Bombay Yacht Club" over and over again. I also removed some of the superfluous information and language such as "bestow" which isn't common encyclopedia language. I removed "we" and replaced it with "the club" as it should be third person.Editfromwithout (talk) 06:52, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

on capitalizing "the Club"

[edit]

When "the Club" appeared alone, I removed the capitalization. This is not because it is incorrect grammatically, as it could be used as a shortened form of the proper name. I changed it for stylistic reasons, as it gave the article a sort of perceived pretentiousness which took away from the neutrality of the text.Editfromwithout (talk) 06:55, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

building reconstructed

[edit]

When going through the photographs, it appears to me that either the (predominantly wooden, two-storey) original structure was replaced by a higher brickstone structure some time in the 1950s-1960s, or we are talking about two buildings in different locations? Can somebody explain? --Kuhni74 (talk) 13:18, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just found the wooden structure, it still exists (with additional storeys) here next to the brick building. Guess the wooden structure is the one from 1881, and the higher brick structure is the 1896 clubhouse mentioned in the article? --Kuhni74 (talk) 13:57, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
