The classification of Rotylenchulus reniformis adopted in the Taxobox, is from Koon-Hui Wang, University of Florida IFAS Extension and Geraert, Etienne (2006) Functional and detailed morphology of the Tylenchida (Nematoda) Brill, Leiden, ISBN90-04-14895-7. An alternative classification is still within suborder Tylenchina, but instead of superfamily Tylenchoidea, places the Rotylenchulidae in the superfamily Hoplolaimoidea as a family. The families in Tylenchoidea would be: Tylenchidae, Ecphyadophoridae, Atylenchidae, and Tylodoridae. The families in Hoplolaimoidea would be: Hoplolaimidae, Rotylenchulidae, Nacobbidae, Meloidogynidae, and Heteroderidae.
