If more sources are located, an addendum should be written, or this Wikipedia entry should be amended when sources more specific to the origin and proper use of the term are located. At the time of this writing, there exists incredibly few exact phrase matches in Google®, and this is of course the original Wikipedia text.

Mnemonic

I don't beleive it is the same as a mnemonic, and so should not have aka mnemonic at the beginning.

I agree. I'm removing it. Rote learning is more learning by repitition than by the use of tricks. Also, I think the term, "rote memory"[1] is more correct. Brian Pearson 17:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
