[edit]Since Talk is empty, this will be just a starting discussion, I graduated from Rosepine Jr-Sr High School, and while I am by no means an expert on Rosepine anymore, the vast majority of the town, while not poverty stricken, just gets by, I think, that the whole poverty level amount is bogus. But, the ones that got by when I was living there, at least did have food to eat and a roof over their head. --TXbrn LArasd (talk) 14:59, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Edits and contributions to move to a "start-class" article
[edit]I will be adding information to this article and hope to gain start-class article. My family were among the early settlers(post 1910) and owned more than one business including a bank. I will upload pictures and if anyone wishes to contribute let me know. I am fairly new to Wikipedia and probably not the greatest editor but pretty fair at gathering information and some layout. If someone would like to add information concerning Richard and Rebecca Pinkerton(and child), of encyclopedic value, then those names will not have to be deleted as unresourced.
There is a wealth of historic information relevent to Rosepine, Vernon Parish, and the surrounding area, especially concerning 1806 to the 1940's. The Rosepine Town Hall moved to the south end of town and stored the many historic pictures that was on the old town hall walls. I will be attempting to get family donated ones back and at least copy others for this article.
- Note: Rosepine had a brick bank(dated 1900 in photographs) before DeRidder did. At one point it was a very large community.
If any wish to edit, add valuable information, or research(and/or add) either do it or include information here and I will. Otr500 (talk) 22:22, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Resources
[edit]Please provide resources for information to avoid deletion. There should be some source information regarding the "Best Little Band" in the state and the Pinkertons that are "are one of the most successful people in the town of Rosepine". Otr500 (talk) 14:34, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
