Rank

What rank did Admiral Jackson have when he was first appointed White House Physician? Were his further advancements ordered by the Commander in Chief? It would seem unusual to achieve admiral rank without ever commanding anything but White House personnel.

I've found this article and a number of others from December 2014, referencing him as "Captain Ronny Jackson." His predecessor as Physician to the President, Jeffrey Kuhlman was a Captain when he retired; I'd guess Jackson was promoted around the time he got the job. In 2000, he was apparently a lieutenant, and this book includes an anecdote from 2011, referencing him as "Commander Ronny Jackson, the White House assistant medical director." More than likely, when joining the White House in 2006, he was a lieutenant commander, which would be consistent with his eleven years of service at the time. An officer typically has 9-11 years under their belt before making it to O-4. Rockhead126 (talk) 00:04, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
Normally military personnel articles seem to be chock-full of this sort of detail, odd to see nothing at all on it here -- it's almost written as if he just hatched full-fledged as a RDML. Googling a little, I found this at https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/4/26/17277426/ronny-jackson-withdraw-trump-veterans-secretary-nomination: "Hours after the press conference, the Associated Press reviewed a copy of a 2012 watchdog report that showed Jackson and another physician — Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman, President Barack Obama’s personal physician — were in the midst of a “power struggle” and displayed “unprofessional behaviors.” However, the report says nothing about excessive drinking or improperly dispensing medication. Jackson admitted he failed to keep his rivalry with Kuhlman hidden from staff. “[M]any also believe that CAPT Jackson has exhibited poor leadership” while fighting with Kuhlman, according to the report, which mentions Jackson’s Navy rank at the time. The six-page report by the Navy’s medical inspector general recommended that the White House, then under Obama’s control, remove one or both of them. Jackson became Obama’s top doctor in 2013 and Kuhlman left the White House medical team." In 2016, he'd already made his terminal rank: https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/meet-president-trumps-doctor-white-house-physician-admiral/story?id=52378607 "Dr. Ronny Jackson, the presidential physician, is a rear admiral in the Navy and examined Trump last week at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center." If it were felt appropriate to add any of that to the article, it would also give some additional information as to his rank at those points, albeit it might be preferable to give exact promotions dates if those are available. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 07:23, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Poking around a little more, a rather problematically punctuated and politically lurid PAC webpage (Radical Socialist Progressive Marxism, oh my) asserts his promotions were: May 1995, recommissioned as a lieutenant; July 2001, lieutenant commander; July 2007, commander; 2010, captain; 2015 rear admiral. That's at least a roadmap, en route to finding reliable sources that stand any of these up. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 07:49, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Dr. Ronny Jackson

Doc Jackson, who put on an unprecedented hour-long song and dance about Trump's good health after his 2018 physical, has been appointed to a senior administrative role with no prior experience or qualifications [1] SPECIFICO talk 03:49, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

How this? Ronny Jackson is United States Navy rear admiral. So he is perfectly qualified to take care of the veterans, User SPECIFICO. --Zbrnajsem (talk) 12:03, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
The job description is not "take care of veterans", it's directing one of the largest, distributed Federal agencies. Please read widespread press coverage of the appointment. SPECIFICO talk 12:06, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Now it is the task of the Senate of the United States to approve or disapprove the nomination of rear admiral Jackson by the President. It is by no means the job of the press. Press coverage is not necessarily important as far as the United States affairs and the decisions of the President are concerned. As to this specific part of the discussion, I would like to remind you of the rules of Wikipedia. Your expressions "(Jackson´s) hour-long song and dance about Trump's good health" are not very far from being disruptive. --Zbrnajsem (talk) 13:10, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
If there's an easier route to becoming a rear admiral, I am not aware of it. This will be an interesting confirmation hearing, since Jackson is certainly unqualified. He's an accomplished doctor with certain specialized skills, but that's about it. He has zero experience running an organization of any kind, let alone one of the largest organizations in the world. His press conference about Trump's health had an unusual level of obsequiousness to his president, although not at the level of Trump's personal doctor, of course. -- Scjessey (talk) 13:21, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Have you been there, at the press conference? And please, stop any further comments on the person of rear admiral Jackson. You are not entitled to this. As far as the nomination is concerned, wait until the Senate decides. Please don´t come near to disrupting this page. --Zbrnajsem (talk) 13:26, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
I watch all the White House press briefings live, including the one that featured Ronny Jackson and his enthusiastic report on Trump's health. There's no disruption going on here. Why are you defensive about Jackson, anyway? -- Scjessey (talk) 13:32, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
You are not entitled to get an answer, User Scjessey. This is my own affair, not yours. And now, it´s all what had to be said about Dr. Jackson´s nomination. --Zbrnajsem (talk) 13:39, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

I think they means you cannot handle the truth![FBDB] PackMecEng (talk) 13:49, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Where's the roflcopter gif when you need it? -- Scjessey (talk) 14:02, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
There are things that are irrelevant for this discussion. What is generally the truth? And again, please stop chat. --Zbrnajsem (talk) 13:55, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
why is this not pov or is that thrown out the window when the pov is anti Trump? עם ישראל חי (talk) 14:53, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Firstly, no personal attacks, Zbrnajsem. And, secondly, it's not for you to decide who comments on Ronny Jackson or who is entitled to receive an answer or not. Maxl (talk) 10:56, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Trump health assessment

The sources don't support the narrative. It has POV injected into it that is nowhere to be found in the source. "Widely critized" is nowhere to be found in the source...and the source doesn't critized him one bit. This needs to be rewritten, resourced, or removed.

Additionally when an editor takes exception to a new edit such as this it needs to go to talk to gain consensus before being readded. Not the other way around! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8805:DC00:1820:CDA0:121E:1757:C947 (talk) 06:39, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

This was also added on 15 May, it must go through consensus at this stage. Mohanabhil (talk) 03:20, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
No, this is long-standing content (existed prior to 15 May). The Hill is also a RS, contrary to what your edit summary said. Be more careful in your editing. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 03:54, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
I agree about Hill being reliable but how this is a long standing content? I checked up to 2018's version and can't see the mention even there.[4] Mohanabhil (talk) 08:10, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
Oh wait, you're right on it being added recently. Strangely, the access date of the sources says 1 May 2018. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 12:37, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

The main article indicates Trump has obesity. Even if that is technically true, it is also true of many Democrats which Wikipedia would never dream of characterizing that way. An article might also note that Obama has big ears, but no Wikipedia article would ever be that rude to a fellow Democrat. The article on Ronny Jackson should be rewritten to make it neutral. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.27.38 (talk) 16:04, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
