Pronunciation of Rondônia
[edit]Shouldn't the IPA transcription be [xõdoniɐ] instead of [xõdõnia] ? 161.24.19.82 17:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Phonologic transcription yes, but in Wikipiedia more a specific (phonetic) transcription is preferred (how people really pronounce the word). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.136.93.176 (talk) 06:57, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Akuntsu
[edit]Why does Akuntsu redirect to the Rondônia state article? And why is it exclusively spoken about in the Tribes section? - Io Katai (talk) 02:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- I may turn it into its own article if there's any interest. It's a rather sad story it seems.--T. Anthony (talk) 11:43, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Controversy?
[edit]This article is & deserves to be among the most controversial on Wikipedia: this Brazilian state is the heart of the devastation of the global rain forest -- as anyone can see via a quick aerial glimpse of it on GoogleMaps or GoogleEarth or Bing -- the entire place looks, now, as though it's been plowed, it didn't used to look like this. The article needs to 'fess up and reflect the controversy, at least mention it in text and then link to other more specialized articles and sites, without some textual reference this is just whitewash, like saying, "Darfur is a place in Africa". The article is internally-inconsistent on this, moreover, as-written currently -- in one section it says the state is "70% rain forest", in another it says it is "60% de-forested" -- can't have that both ways, this badly needs a context & controversy - sensitive update & rewrite. Extensive Construction of Hydroelectric Dams
[edit]Apparently, a network of 168 dams is being built in Rondonia State. One of the larger ones features a five mile berm that has fifty generatation turbines. I will not make an encyclopedic entry, as my information is limited. Homebuilding (talk) 02:35, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Madeira-Mamoré Railroad
[edit]We should have a link between the construction of the Madeira-Mamoré Railroad and the creation of the State of Rondonia.
