Advert tag
[edit]2/18/2008 Removed 'advert' tag. Though the article is positive, it's hard not to be positive about Ronald McDonald House. I don't work for them- but I do work at a hospital that is served by one. I hope nobody reading this ever needs their services- but if you do, you'll find it to be incredible. - Adding it back. This article is overly positive without citations for much of it. It definitely reads like an advert. Zell Faze (talk) 00:17, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Pull-tab millions number
[edit]Are you sure about the pull-tab millions number? http://www.snopes.com/business/redeem/pulltabs.asp 12.47.223.8 (talk) 15:57, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Criticism
[edit]No criticism section ? Its giving McDonalds publicity associated with children and people that care for children, and children and party of McDonalds marketing strategy (if your a parent, you know you can't drive past a McDonalds without your kids making a fuss about wanting to eat it) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.117.235.194 (talk) 01:26, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- The fact is nobody's going to stick their neck out and put into print some big criticism of this kind of charity, regardless of the branding and corporate sponsorship. And why would you want to? Because you're annoyed that your kids make "a fuss"? Personally I think we should encourage more of this from corporations. --C S (talk) 10:43, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Mother Teresa has a Criticism page, right here on Wikipedia, so why not McDonald's Charities as well? In fact, why not other charity organizations as well?--Splashen (talk) 15:43, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
HIstory?
[edit]This article is really sub-standard (if I must say so meself). I want to know the key points: particularly, what is the history of this place? THAT is the kind of info you need in an "encyclopedic" entry. Have at it Batman! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.164.101 (talk) 03:59, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
Needs a major update
[edit]For instance, a 53-bedroom RM free/donation 'hotel' (for families/visitors of sick children at SGH) has just opened at my workplace - http://www.rmhc.org.uk/news-and-blog/new-7-million-accommodation-for-families-of-children-in-hospital-opens-in-southampton/
I confine myself to minor edits and typos, but the spread of these facilities ought to be included by someone.
I'm also no fan of McDonalds themselves tbh, but the on-site Ronald McDonald houses/hotels really are something worth applauding. Paediatric specialist units take patients from long distances away (eg Southampton takes channel Islands, Cornwall, all over the country really), and for families not to have to worry about the cost and bother of finding somewhere to stay is a massive benefit to them at a time of great concern for their poorly kid.

Major NPOV issues
[edit]This article seems a lot to me like promotional material. Example quotes:
"Collecting pop tabs helps Ronald McDonald House Charities pay the bills so moms and dads need not worry about where they stay while their children are in the hospital." Clearly promotional.
"Pop tabs remind us of an important lesson: even little things make a big difference." Wikipedia is not a Aseop's fable collection.
"Not only is the green design good for the environment, the eco-friendly features create a healthier environment for the children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald's House while children are treated at area medical centers." Clearly promotional.
"The grounds future purpose built [sic] houses and beautiful gardens where the children and their families can stay for a week free of charge while attending a broad variety of activities, learning exercises and fun games." There's no way that sentence is objective.
