... that nightclub singer Rommy Revson earned millions of dollars from her 1986 invention of the scrunchie(pictured), which she named after her pet poodle? Source: NYT obit
Hi Cbl62, review follows; article created 15 September and exceeds minimum length; article is well written and cited inline throughout to reliable sources; I didn't pick up on any overly close paraphrasing from the online sources that I could access; hook fact is interesting and mentioned in the article, unfortunately I don't have a NYT subscription to access the full article but happy to AGF that it supports it (the People article seems to back it up); image is freely and appropriately licensed; a QPQ has been carried out. Looks fine to me - Dumelow (talk) 08:12, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cbl62 and Dumelow: hmmm, I'm not sure the hook does the naming justice. Her poodle was named "Scunci", and it somehow became known as a "scrunchie" as time went on – does that count as the scrunchie being named after her pet poodle? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 00:25, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As I read the sources, Revson marketed her invention as the "Scunci", naming it after her pet poodle, and sold millions of dollars of product under that name. Over time, the product became more broadly and generically known as the scrunchie. If you find the poodle part problematic, I have no objection to pruning the last seven words. Hi theleekycauldron, my thoughts are similar to those of Cbl62. I don't think it is a problem to use the genericised term (using "Scunci" would confuse the reader) but if necessary, drop the clause about the dog - Dumelow (talk) 06:11, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
