Saints

[edit]

I have three concerns about this section, 'Saints': (1) It is unreferenced; (2) It derives from the Catholic Encyclopedia, and is a century old; this is particularly problematical in the light of two world wars, the Law of 1905, and the change in religious habits after (and because of) Vatican II. Are these pilgrimages still current? (3) The saints 'specially honoured' are minor local worthies, of some uncertainty, and (IMHO) unable to meet a standard of 'notability'. They are not 'specially honoured'; they are 'locally honoured', and in fact may not have been honored at all for many centuries. Some documentary work on them needs to be done, or they are candidates for deletion. Are they not just hagiographical trivia? --Vicedomino (talk) 04:55, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely not. They are specially honoured at that locality and even if that has diminished in practical importance, the honouring itself does not simply vanish. The Law of 1905 is completely irrelevant here. Str1977 (talk) 16:59, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
