Undiscussed move
[edit]This should not have been moved without discussion, especially as it has been very recently edited. The main interest for most English readers is going to be the independent state, not the modern diocese. The old name was better and Bishopric of Metz is the commonest name in English for the stater. The article is a stub & certainly not worth splitting - I am proposing propose that. Comments? Johnbod (talk) 11:15, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- I suggest you work on an article on the Bishopric of Metz, if you want to expand the section on the former state of the Holy Roman Empire. This article has been at the "Diocese of Metz" for over a year now, and you've made at least 5 edits on this article since the move. I'm not sure why you want to move it back now. - Because it is the commonest name in English - see WP:NAME. Johnbod (talk) 11:14, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Again, create an article for the bishopric of Metz. The two concepts are NOT the same. The bishopric of Metz was defunct at the dissolution of the HRE, while the diocese persists. Therefore WP:Name is irrelevant, since the names do not mean exactly the same thing. If you like, I will create the article again for you and you can unstub it. Mis-redirect?
[edit]Following on in a similar vein of the previous talk topic (Undiscussed move): It seems their is an article for the "Bishopric of Metz" yet searching specifically for the "Prince-Bishopric of Metz" links to this article (Roman Catholic Diocese of Metz). The redirect should point to the former article (Bishopric of Metz), right? Unless there's something I'm missing? - clearly not an expert. Stvys (talk) 09:19, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
