Accreditation controversy - reference needed
[edit]- "However, some argue that Rochville University is properly accredited school since accreditation associations are private companies (the ones recognized by US Department of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation)."
I have removed the above text from the article; if a reliable source can be found to support the arguments of "some," then it would have a place there. Robertissimo 02:47, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Defense of Rochville University
[edit]I removed the content below from the article. The source (this webpage) does not appear to be WP:RS (but I can't tell) and the insert did not indicate what the context is. Some of this content may be included, but it would need to be cleaned up. --Orlady (talk) 15:42, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
US: do you know that since 2003, Rochville University has faced criticsim and that the police had to review 700 cases because a man who claimed to be a forensic expert and obtained degrees from the same university as you( maybe in fooling them) was not what he pretented to be? What do you have to answer to that?
Lord of Redwoods: -In the mean time, even this university might not have a good reputation who could blame the university. I mean the university should maybe not be considered as a diploma mill because some students work really hard in there. It is not because it is an affordable university that it should be considered as a diploma mill. Of course some people might have used that in a fraudulent way but even people in France for example might buy degrees as in Rochville or elsewhere with a dispositive called V.A.E which stands for life experience degree(Validation des Acquis de l'Experience. Rochville University asks you to provide a full resume of your life and your activities and or to attach a candidate statement. Then if someone choose to give fake infos and credentials in order to obtain a life experience degree, it is the person who is responsible and absolutely not the university. Furthermore accreditation is given according to the beliefs of a group of individuals. And beliefs of what is true or not or on what is good or not might varry from a group of individuals to another. In conclusion, Monrovia University is not a,n accretited university but it is not a reason to try to say that all the persons who obtained a degree there are non competent. And finally if an individual didn't study it would be discovered in a way or another. Finally a university is not supposed to substitute the State authorities and to check the identity of its students. <ref>Interview accorded by the Lord of Redwoods to the Redwoodian online magazine(see the link above to read the full interview)</ref>
The Lord of Redlands website looks like a thinly veiled facade for the one apparently bogus interview article you linked to, i.e., not even an article author is named. There appears to be nothing else on the webpage. Just that one apparently bogus interview article. No identification as to who or what a Lord of Redlands is. It most definitely is not a reliable source. The contact info links you to an email address, theredwoodianwebmaster@bluebootle.com. It is apparently trying to pretend to be french but whois on bluebootle.com produces

I used one of their fake associates to try to get into a bachelors completion program. While the school didn't catch me out as using a fake, they did point out that it wasn't accredited. (Of course, this school also looked down its nose at the real school I eventually went to because it merely had candidacy status with SACS {at the time}, so consider the source.) Either way, no defense from me... 23.121.160.252 (talk) 18:52, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Recent Vandalism
[edit]I tried to undo the recent vandalism but for some reason I was only able to revert some it. My apologies for this. I hope that another, more experienced editor will be able to revert it back to the version before the vandalism. Afterwriting (talk) 10:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- The only thing missing from the prior version is the "see also" section, but I don't think it's needed. --Orlady (talk) 14:55, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- The references section was also missing. I restored both. TallMagic (talk) 15:34, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]FWIW, I just now removed an edit to the article that advertised the above website, which is a promotional website for Rochville. It's written in poor English, but I suppose the intended audience is not native speakers of English. --Orlady (talk) 14:19, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Comment
[edit]Rockville University wishes to inform its students and prospecting students about the recent spam on our activities. We wish to inform the public that we are accredited by Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Our competitors, that is to say our other academic partners (colleges and universities), envision our activities as scandalous but this is because people seem to patronize our services and as such people are unwilling to devote all their productive hours in classrooms and research work. Our degrees are recognized worldwide and popularized because we assist those on the job with experience who may not be able to devote all their productive hours in classrooms.
Our distance learning program and degree programs are the best in the world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwamedon (talk • contribs) 17:35, 1 June 2010
- Wikipedia policy on verifiability of article content requires that we rely on citations to reliable sources. If you can present a reliable source, independent of Rochville, that indicates that Rochville is accredited by CHEA, please do so. I have to admit, however, that I'm skeptical. For starters, CHEA itself is not an accreditor... --Orlady (talk) 00:15, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- A simple database search on chea.org will reveal that Rochville University is in fact not accredited by the organization. -- Agfys (talk) 16:12, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Rochville University is accredited
[edit]As far as I know Rochville University functions on the honor system, so if someone summits false information to get a degree so that they can do a news story or talk about someone they are liars. The liars summiting false information to do a story with the intent to lie are the ones that are committing fraud. The act of accrediting or the state of being accredited, especially the granting of approval to an institution of learning by an official review board after the school has met specific requirements its in the dictionary. Rochville University is accredited and from my experience it is legal to use the degree in the United States2601:547:D03:B8F0:E1BC:6B61:F2FD:C008 (talk) 14:12, 30 July 2016 (UTC)

- I'm not sure how that helps us. I don't see anything in that document about Rochville University, and why is it hosted by Dropbox? --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 21:18, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- This is an official "secretary of state" letter of confirmation - that's much more than the information you've published here! And the dropbox link is the only way I can add a pdf file (and why not a dropbox link????)
