To all that visit this site, I want to thank Chris A. for getting this article posted on Wikipedia, I would also like to thank the people who wrote letters to my father through the years. He enjoyed the attention but asked me before his passing to let my boys know what (WE) had done so many years ago. He always spoke highly of the other pilots and all the Enlisted men he served with. This is why he chose the word (WE) instead of I, so please remember them all. There is so much more to be told about my father and the 49th FG I can only hope it will not be lost to time. Here is a little background on the DFC & AM. The Air Medal was awarded for every 25 combat missions and the (DFC) Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded for every 50 combat missions. Once again thank you all for stopping by and reading this article.
The parenthetical number after the awards in the info box implies the number of awards. The number of oak leaf clusters in the body of the article counts as additional awards. The numbers in the infobox and the numbers in the body of the article, therefore, conflict. Request correction as needed. Trilotat (talk) 18:10, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
