Snap Judgement

[edit]

I heard a recent talk about the life of RVT on NPR. According to the story, RVT had scoliosis as a teenager and spend a lot of time in a metal cast in the hospital under extreme pain. He was approached by a priest, who prayed and made a miracle and instantly stopped his pains. This brought RVT to Christianity. Already at this point he knew he was a gay and was afraid of coming out. His miraculous healing lead him to contacts with black churches and black societies. This is when he became involved with politics. And this is where he was turned down by his family and especially with his mentor, the one who healed him. His Christian Healer was actually strongly racist. (I could not figure out his name). This is also when he got involved with Desmond Tutu, and Tutu advised him to avoid going to jail, but go to USA instead. Can someone confirm this story? The details about the miraculous healing are very important: is this a real miracle, or there is an alternative explanation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.71.195.87 (talk) 00:13, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Departure from the Cathedral

[edit]

I've removed everything to do with his departure from the cathedral. It may be possible to include something, but what was there didn't pass WP:BLP or WP:NPOV. At a minimum, we need actual sources cited in the article itself. Controversial points need to be expressed very carefully. -- BPMullins | Talk 14:27, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
