Dean?

[edit]

I don't think "dean (education)" is correct. He was probably at the Cathedral in Canterbury. Is there another "dean (something)"? Also, this entry should really be under "Robert Payne Smith", without the hyphen. I made a mistake when starting it with the hyphen. OT

Never mind about the dean thing. I found Dean (religion). OT

Trouble?

[edit]

In 1873, he was involved in the Evangelical Alliance at New York, together with Bishop George Cummins of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the USA. They took part in an ecumenical communion service. Bishop Tozer of Zanzibar kicked up a fuss about this, and Cummins was forced to resign - he then founded the Reformed Episcopal Church. Tozer said he was going to raise Payne Smith's conduct with the Archbishop of Canterbury: did he? if so, what happened? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.49.167.100 (talk) 15:56, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
