Hemp

[edit]

I'm not inclined to believe this. 72.255.26.202 (talk) 12:40, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, since "Indian" hemp comes from North America, not India, and hemp was known in Europe from earlier times, and the reference cited doesn't mention hemp, I believe this assertion to be a hoax. 72.255.26.202 (talk) 12:44, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than asserting that from your own personal beliefs (which constitutes impermissible original research), why not take the time to verify it for yourself? "Indian hemp" is cannabis indica, native to India and Persia, not North America. It wasn't generally known in Europe until the 19th century and Hooke's own diaries record Knox providing him with samples. -- ChrisO (talk) 00:09, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
