Polyglossy

[edit]

Robert Austerlitz was a remarkably polyglot person. I have heard him speaking flawless English and German. From his biography, one may infer that he spoke Rumanian. It appears that he also spoke Finnish, Hungarian and Japanese. Apparently, very short exposure to a language enabled him to speak it. And while other persons may be able to speak more languages, the remarkable feature about Austerlitz is that he spoke that half dozen or more languages without an accent. It would be worthwhile to add a section to this article which enumerates the set and specifically marks those languages of which he had full competence. This would not only complete his biography, but may also enhance the status of polyglossy. Ch. Lehmann (talk) 18:11, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
