Height Data
[edit]At present, Robbie Brady's height is uncited. I propose citing his height from Premier League (1.76m) and switching it to metres first for the following reasons:
- It would then be consistent with the usage of Premier League.
- It would then be consistent with usage in the Irish Republic. (Brady is from the Irish Republic and also plays for the national team.)
Are there any comments or concerns? Michael Glass (talk) 01:20, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Seems like a good idea, it should be metres first, then feet (although some footballers have it the other way for some reason). Joseph2302 (talk) 01:25, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- If the info is uncited, you don't need to start a talk page discussion to change it. As long as you add a reliable source, you won't have any problems. The issues arise when you replace an existing reliable source with another, because it makes people think you're doing it to advance some sort of agenda regarding the use of metres over feet and inches. If the source gives his height in metres, I don't think anyone would have any problem with displaying those units first in the infobox. – PeeJay 11:37, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

there has been numerous arguments that have been rejected at WP:MOSNUM about cherry picking sources to suit the order of units that you want to apply to articles. Keith D (talk) 14:10, 12 February 2015 (UTC) - I agree with Keith D. Speccy4Eyes (talk) 19:51, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Robbie Brady is from the Irish Republic and plays for the national team. As the Irish Republic uses metric measures the MOSNUM's UK rules don't apply. Michael Glass (talk) 10:18, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- But they do apply to English players and other Brits. So lets be sensible about this and apply them everywhere that they do apply. Otherwise we will just have stalemate and waste all our good time getting nowhere. How about it? Speccy4Eyes (talk) 18:55, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- Though let us remember that you have rejected that principle where it would lead to imperial measures going first.
- Either you can have nationality-based units or not. It is hypocritical in the extreme for you to demand changes to units on the basis of nationality where that means metric first, but reject them where that means imperial first. Kahastok talk 20:11, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
A proposal is not a demand. The rules clearly state that if the order of units in an article is to be changed, this must be proposed. This gives both of us the right to comment on or object to proposals. It can be a frustrating situation, but perhaps it would be better to discuss it elsewhere. [edit]Being vandalised to the hilt since he scored in the Italy game, so can an admin protect it please? Mórtas is Dóchas (talk) 23:30, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
- There is a request at WP:RFPP. Eagleash (talk) 23:34, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
- I have seen cites of this vandalism on several other websites. Be prepared that this wave will keep on for quite some time. --Windharp (talk) 15:27, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
