List of Rizzoli & Isles episodes created
[edit]For those watching this show page, I just took the liberty of creating the List of Rizzoli & Isles episodes page. Don't know what I may or may not have left out, as this is my first attempt at page creation, so feel free to leave me any feedback you want on the List's talk page or my own as to what I may have left out; I only ask that you be clear about the difference between personal preferences, and required data per things like MOS. Thanks. KnownAlias contact 22:11, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
I just noticed that there is duplicate work going on -- a set of Season pages containing episodes for that given season, and a List of Episodes page that is comprehensive of all seasons to date. I think the latter is standard practice. Perhaps a link on the main Rizzoli & Isles page to the List of Episodes page, which I found on the Season 3 page, would be a good start? I just added data to Season 3 page and would hate for my work to be lost in a merger, but the Season pages should probably be gleaned for what they have that is unique and then deleted. Thoughts? Isles introduced in The Apprentice or The Sinner?
[edit]For anyone who has read the books, is Isles introduced in The Apprentice or in The Sinner? According to this article, at Rizzoli & Isles#Book series, she is introduced in The Apprentice, but the article for The Sinner says she is first introduced in that book. One of the 2 needs to be corrected. --Logical Fuzz (talk) 20:19, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- IIRC, Isles is introduced as a minor character in The Apprentice, and becomes a main character from The Sinner onwards. I don't have my copies to hand to double check, but I only read them last month so I'm reasonably certain. Frickative 20:31, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Rizzoli's Partner

"Lesbian Subtext"?
[edit]Eh....--Boycool (talk) 11:35, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- There is lesbian subtext, fucking dumbass. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.215.207 (talk • contribs) 02:12, 2011 March 21 (UTC)
- There is absolutely no lesbian subtext at all, its just two friends who solve crimes together. Jane Rizzoli (talk) 11:56, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps you need to learn what both subtext and lesbian mean. There is a reason that this show has been nick-named "the ambiguously lez duo" and why it isn't hard to find a blog about how lesbian this show is without coming right out and openly proclaiming so. It actually is hard to go 5 minutes without lesbian subtext in any episode of season 1. It is also why there are more men being added for season 2. It is why you probably won't see Jane & Maura in bed together in season 2 like they were in season 1. Or those friendly candle light dinners. Or Jane telling Maura not to check out Chuck's ass and Maura saying that it is natural selection at work that females should be attracted to the strongest males they know. If that isn't a subtext for 'sorry my eyes wandered away from you to a man' then Jane didn't kiss a woman in episode 6. They are trying to turn-off the lesbian audience the show garnered in the first season and bring in a more heterosexual audience for season 2 because it apparently wasn't mean to be a homosexual show. One could question whether the lesbian subtext was intentional or mass accident by all of the writers combined but it is most certainly there. Episode 6 is titled "I Kissed A Girl" and that isn't regarding Barry, Vince, or Frankie. delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 12:25, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- There is no lesbian subtext unless you're looking for (i.e. you're a lesbian). The only episode that's even suggestive is the pilot, when Jane asks Maura if she's attracted to her. In The Expendables, Bruce Willis asks Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger if they're going to start sucking each other's "dicks". Does that mean The Expendables has a gay subtext? Of course not. It's a joke! --Boycool (talk) 19:13, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Jane blatantly asking Maura if she's attracted to her is the exact opposite of subtext... and just because you don't want to see it doesn't mean it's not there. 64.206.63.50 (talk) 16:29, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Tiktok
It does not matter if any of us do, or do not, see lesbian subtext in the show. All that matters is if there are notable and reliable sources about a lesbian subtext. —MJBurrage(T•C) 13:32, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
This doesn't even warrant any real response. Find a number of reliable sources that cite Rizzoli & Isles of having a 'Lesbian Subtext' and then it can be included in the article. If not this is the most asinine discussion imaginable Pat (talk) 14:16, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Season 2
[edit]Season 2 has 15 episodes, yet every time I change it from 13 to 15 it gets reverted. The episode number has not only been confirmed by Sasha, Angie, Lorraine and others on twitter, but also by TNT, see half way down the article in this reference. It says it returns for 5 MORE episodes in November. 10+5 doesn't =13. (Jane Rizzoli (talk) 00:50, 5 September 2011 (UTC)).
Accent?
[edit]Can someone please explain to me why a woman who grew up in Revere has a Texas accent? Is there some backstory I'm not aware of, like she lived in Texas for most of her childhood and then was adopted by a Boston family (that is, a Boston family in which the mother is from Brooklyn)??? Rosekelleher (talk) 22:17, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- Angie Harmon is from Texas. She probably didn't want to do a bad Boston accent and fail. Plus, it is not a pronounced Texas accent, it's not like she is saying "Y'all" every other sentence. Liz Read! Talk! 15:31, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Promotional DVD
[edit]I don't know how to edit the actual page but i thought it would be cool to add that even though TNT sent out promotional DVD with the entire pilot the still had a really good turn out for the series premiere.
Plus it was something i had never seen another show do.

Lee Thompson Young died
[edit]His death is noted in the article, at the time of the writing of the message you are reading. I am seeing elsewhere that he was found dead when he did not show up for some filming for this show. Now we have to wait and see what changes would be made because of his death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 19:58, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- It's quite possible that they were filming a season finale episode or close to it. He may be written off or Jane's brother will take his place (since the police roster is skimpy anyway). Because production was in fact halted, his death does bear mentioning here. And don't forget to sign your comments in the future with 4 ~. Thanks. — Wyliepedia 12:26, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
- We just watched an episode tonight (2/12/2014, it was about a clown murderer) and the Frost character is in the episode. Was that episode taped while Lee Thompson Young was alive, or is there a new actor playing the part? --Lbeaumont (talk) 03:29, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- No, it's still Lee Young Thompson in those episodes because those episodes were recorded when he was still alive. He died during the filming of the latest season so he will appear in a few more episodes. Teysz Kamieński (talk) 10:01, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Theme Song
[edit]In the article it's listed as "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" by the Dropkick Murphys - this isn't actually the song used for the opening credits of the show. The network and the show's official website both say that it's an original composition, and if you actually listen to both the opening theme and "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" it's quite obvious that they are not the same. This should be changed. 58.107.82.26 (talk) 09:36, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Not filmed in Boston
[edit]- blog.thephoenix.com/BLOGS/phlog/archive/2010/09/07/how-quot-rizzoli-amp-isles-quot-could-be-a-better-boston-show.aspx
The article should prominently state that this show pretends to be in Boston but is actually filmed in Los Angeles. Some may not care, but for the many who actually live in or are familiar with Boston this is quite significant.-71.174.183.90 (talk) 17:50, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, but please see WP:BLOGS. — Wyliepedia 00:33, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- And more to the point, there's nothing unusual about that. NCIS is filmed in LA, not DC. Leverage was set in Boston but filmed in Portland. All manner of places are doubled by Vancouver or Toronto. I could go on and on... --Drmargi (talk) 00:57, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- CAWylie: I agree that this isn't noteworthy, but please have a look at WP:NEWSBLOG, as not all "blogs" are BLOGS. Blarg. Rebbing 02:08, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- The production section succinctly states: "The series is produced on the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, California". Self-explanatory. — Wyliepedia 02:25, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
List formatting
[edit]Wyliepedia: To elaborate on my edit summary: Mixed-type lists are disfavored as they make machine reading difficult. Help:List § Paragraphs inside list items offers a manual workaround; {{bulleted list}} is also popular and less fragile. I think using a definition list looks better and makes it easier to pick out names as we say quite a bit about most of the main characters, but I'm willing to be wrong about that. I reverted because of the accessibility issue and because MOS:BOLD doesn't seem to address list types. Thoughts? Rebbing 02:33, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- Whoops! I had a look at MOS:TVCAST, which interprets MOS:BOLD to proscribe bolded character names. I'm not sure that covers definition list headings as they aren't explicitly bolded, but no matter as TVCAST suggests a bulleted list. Rebbing 02:55, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- Your use of {{bulleted list}} in the main section and not the remaining sections are counter-intuitive. Frankly, you just undid my edits to add your own. So please stop pinging me in the future. — Wyliepedia 03:24, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- The other sections don't have lists with multiple paragraphs per list item, so standard lists are simpler and work just fine. For § Main characters, the problem is that many items have two paragraphs. While it may look fine in your browser, your method creates a separate HTML list (

...

) for each list entry—check it with your browser's debugger if you don't believe me. That's unpleasant for those with screen readers and is strongly discouraged. See MOS:LISTGAP. Help:List demonstrates a workaround with ordinary lists, but it's fragile and not pretty, so {{bulleted list}} seemed appropriate.

- Also, there's absolutely no need to be hostile about this. We were both mistaken, and I am glad that you corrected me. We are on the same team here. Please note that I admitted both here and in an edit summary that I had missed the meaning of your terse edit summary, and, frankly, I can't imagine why I would revert you only to reinstate, with an explicit mea culpa, the substance of your edit (the switch back to bullet points). If we were keeping score, my two edits would make me look fairly silly! My only other ping to you was to point out that you appeared to misunderstand WP:BLOGS, but I shall avoid pinging you in future. I assure you I meant no offense in either case, and I apologize.
- In my opinion, these character lists need gutted and/or forked to a list page. Since MOS:TVCAST is held in such high regard in this discussion, I also add its suggestion that cast/character sections should contain "brief description[s] of the character[s]". Follow that guideline will reduce extraneous formatting or "paragraphing". All that said, this series ends in about a month, so branching and formatting might be futile. (Addendum: the Recurring section still has bullets, so my counter-intuitive comment still holds.) — Wyliepedia 04:24, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- I agree with you on both points: the character descriptions would benefit from trimming, and I've reverted my edit so it's a simple list with one paragraph per bullet point, minus the gaps between list items, which was what was causing yours to render incorrectly. Thanks and apologies. Rebbing 04:53, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
Spoilers
[edit]The character descriptions shouldn't contain details about the entirety of the series. You might as well just read the character list and not watch the show at this point. Character descriptions should consist of actual descriptions of a character's personality, role in the series, and time of introduction. Maybe the events of the first season. But not every single significant detail of every single season. Other articles have this same issue and it always bothers me. 2406:3400:214:9FE0:9595:DE89:3323:2BCD (talk) 14:21, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
