Sence, Carlton Brook, Saint and Tweed

[edit]

The description needs expansion on the basis of firstly geomorphology, in particular Glacial history of the region, secondly the 1:25 000 Ordnance Survey maps, thirdly to clarify the confused names of the two southern tributaries rising north of Hinckley and west of Cadeby, fourthly the origin of the names, fifthly their use for water power, water supply and fishing, and sixthly influence on the relation to prehistoric roads, in particular the Salt Road from Cheshire towards Bury St Edmunds and the Radway / Redway from Derby to Edgehill, both crossing the Sence south of Congerstone near Temple Mill and the Roman Fenn Lane. I will try to fill some of these gaps in the near future. ¬¬¬¬
