Caspar

[edit]

Caspar contains Naoko Akagi's brain? Where did that come from? In the beginning of the episode, MAGI is described as an "organic computer" and the brain-like thing had ports, for god's sake. If nobody disagrees, I'll be editing the brain out in the near future. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Darth Blade (talkcontribs) .

Ritsuko specifically states that the three Magi computers are programmed to respond to the three primary aspects of Naoko (scientist, mother, and woman), but there's a theory that they also contain Naoko's soul. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 04:16, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The MAGI were completed BEFORE Naoko's death, seeing how she actually explained about the three personalities to Ritsuko. That, and in episode 13 (I think it was 13 anyway...) Ritsuko tells that the MAGI use a technology that allows to COPY a personality to an organic computer, not use an actual human brain as a motherboard. Darth Blade
They don't contain her brain, they contain her scanned brain pattern. --Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici 01:14, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ritsuko and SEELE

[edit]

Did Ritsuko destroy the Rei clones on her own, or was she prompted to by SEELE? I remember the scene where she's talking to the monoliths in the nude, but I can't remember their dialogue. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 14:29, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 23, right?
Seele: Rejecting the interrogation of the pilot of Unit One, He presented you as her deputy, Dr. Akagi.
Ritsuko: I am Rei's deputy?
I don't think they were inciting her. It may've had that effect, but when they discuss her while she's absent, I don't sense any sort of idea that they were using her to strike at Gendo by eliminating all available clones. --Gwern (contribs) 23:33 14 April 2007 (GMT)

Idea: Ritsuko begins to be very angry with Gendo following the birth of Rei III. There was no real reason for bringing Rei back to life (AGAIN) since the Angels had been all but wiped out - and NERV's purpose was nearing its end. (Also now that the Dummy Plugs had been proven in various situations, Rei was no longer needed). Gendo had it done for his own reasons, and possibly without Ritsuko's knowledge. I believe that Ritsuko considered Rei to be a romantic threat and that Gendo was actually trying to bring back his only true love, Yui (since Rei would essentially mature into the same woman in a few years, being Yui's clone). It was at this point that Ritsuko began to suspect the truth - that she had been manipulated by Gendo from the very start. This, I think, is what motivated her to destroy all of the remaining Reis.

Ritsuko and Kaji

[edit]

I've been troubled for some time now by the statements in the article regarding Ritsuko's relationship with Kaji. In the manga, their past in college is not discussed at all, but the scene where Kaji sneaks up behind her and embraces her at her desk is there, almost exactly as it was in the anime. In the scene, she seems happy to see him and blushes at his advances, although she says that she knows he's not being serious. In the anime, I got the distinct impression that Ritsuko wasn't all that keen on Kaji back in college, at least judging by what I remember of the scene where that picture of her, Kaji, and Misato was taken. Am I forgetting or misinterpreting something? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 04:18, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We know Ritsuko eventually falls in love or something with Gendo, but there's nothing to rule out liking Gendo and being envious of Misato. Kaji has made at least two women fall in love with him, so what's one more to the list? --Gwern (contribs) 04:51 16 May 2007 (GMT)
I just want the statement that Ritsuko "jokingly flirted with Kaji" to be accurate. As it is, it's a little confusing, as it could mean back when they were in college, or at NERV when Kaji came back, or both. I was wanting clarification on their interactions during their college days from someone who's seen that episode of the anime recently so I could make that statement clearer one way or the other. Ritsuko's death

[edit]

Is it REALLY necessary to keep putting in the details of Ritsuko's death here and in the EoE article? Seems to me that just saying that she was shot and killed would be sufficient. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 14:42, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yeah actually. Someone reading this might not have read the EoE article. --Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici 15:47, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't make myself clear. Obviously, her death needs to be both here and in the EoE article, but it seems like overkill (no pun intended) to detail that she was shot in the chest and killed with one shot. As I was saying (and have repeatedly edited both articles in the past only to be reverted), simply saying that Gendo shoots and kills her would be simpler and sufficient. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 16:30, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not like it adds a lot of bulk if written with any respect for the English language: "Gendo kills Ritsuko with a bullet to the chest." You could shorten it up even more. --Gwern (contribs) 12:33 24 July 2007 (GMT)

Rei

[edit]

The article says that in the manga Ritsuko dislikes Rei. Isn't this present in the anime too? IIRC, in episode 23 she had the remains of Rei disposed of without anyone's knowledge. 67.54.145.172 (talk) 05:18, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's present in the anime but is not as open as in the manga. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 23:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopedic?

[edit]

Are we sure this article should really be here? TeenAngels1234 (talk) 21:26, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IMO, we should merge this article into List of Neon Genesis Evangelion characters#Ritsuko Akagi Redjedi23 (talk) 19:27, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Redjedi23: Thank you. Yup, I strongly agree.--TeenAngels1234 (talk) 13:32, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Strangely “biased” towards end of characterisation

[edit]

The “liar that he is” line is bizarre, misplaced, and unnecessary. Additionally, why is it implied that Gendo is “uttering” a “final line of manipulation” or anything like that… honestly, what is the point of this page? - functionally, it’s a wrapper for the characterisation subheading. If this page _must_ exist for whatever reason, the subheading could be merged with its mother into a repurposed “characterisation of Ritsuko” page. It seems like it’d be sensible to just delete/merge this page with the NGE#characters one, as some other users suggested before me. If enough doubters materialise this page should be added as a candidate for deletion (if it isn’t already on deletion row). I do wonder if Akagi wrote this page herself, considering the resentment! 138.124.131.202 (talk) 01:31, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
