Since this page has last been edited in depth, there has been the adaptation of the PCI-E standard for faster data transfers and stability. Over the next few days I will be editing this page with new data on these standards as they apply to the riser card and any other relevant data that goes with them. Another new technology that uses riser cards is the riser cable. This uses the printed circuit board as its base, but with the addition solid cables between two seperate boards to allow greater distances and signal integrity. I will be editing the applications section with data based on this as well.

After editing this page, I saw how much information was out of date. These technologies have moved out of just being in servers. The Riser Cable has made this technology much more viable and versatile to be brought into the consumer market. A lot of this page was mismatched as well. Their were three different definitions for a Riser Card that I revised down to one main definition, along with a new usage section to allow for more detail on other definitions. New data about different PCI and ExpressCard standards was also added to show examples of how this technology can be used. The last main edit was the addition of applications for consumer markets and a new image for PCI Risers and to show how a newer kind of more versatile vertical mount can be used.
