Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (riley is a proffesional skater and son of the most famous skater ever.) --Mathgenious989 (talk) 15:42, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- Except for royal families and a few other cases where people are practically "born notable," who your parents are doesn't matter in Wikipedia. However, the fact that he is a professional means that A7 does not apply. HOWEVER, the page does need at least one reliable sources in the next 10 days or the page will be deleted under WP:BLPPROD. It needs reliable sources, independent of the subject, that either individually or collectively demonstrate that this person has received significant coverage, or it will likely be proposed for deletion or, if that is contested, nominated for deletion and possibly deleted as a result.
- I plan on checking back on this in a few days. If a reliable-source reference has been added (and, after that is done, the BLPPROD template removed) BUT it doesn't meet one of the notability criteria listed at WP:Notability or one of the special-purpose notability-category pages linked from that page, I will either propose it for deletion or nominate it for deletion. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:21, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think the citation for the "amateur of the year award" will make it much more difficult for this article to be deleted for lack of notability. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:05, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Woah, too many references
[edit]Pick the most reliable sources out there to back up each fact, and trim the rest.
If you feel that the excess references you trim out may be useful to others later because they contain interesting facts not yet in the article but which might be added someday, you can list them here on the talk page. Just don't use <ref> or they won't display properly on this page. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:03, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- They can be moved to a Further reading section, but should remain, as the article was slated for deletion already. Sportfan5000 (talk) 04:05, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
