Joey the Cowpolka King
[edit]Given that Joey wasn't a founding member of the group, shouldn't the article mention when he joined? Kouban 02:37, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Joey joined the group over 20 years ago...I don't call that recently. 204.76.128.217 (talk) 21:49, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
The above statement is incorrect, unless the definition of "joining" is very loose. Although Joey produced some of the RITS albums and played backup in some instances, he wasn't featured on an album cover until 1999's "Christmas the Cowboy Way". He also wasn't pictured on the Riders 20th Anniversary tour poster. epergrem 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Texans?
[edit]Where did the band originate? 209.30.162.72 (talk) 04:33, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Photo is incorrectly labeled
[edit]The Riders are in Gene Autry, Oklahoma, not Ponca City, Oklahoma, where they had a concert the night BEFORE the 100th anniversary of Gene's birth. I know because I was at both concerts and the backdrop was completely different in Ponca City, where the 'old timey town' look was provided by Conoco-Phillips. In Gene Autry, the Riders used their own banner, which can be seen in the background of this picture.12.189.32.37 (talk) 05:49, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Began performing in 1977
[edit]I personally stood five feet from Woody Paul, Ranger Doug, and Too Slim in June of 1976 in Salina, Kansas when they performed at the first Smokey Hill River Festival which occurred in honor of our nation's bicentennial. They were incredible and I've been a fan ever since. So, I know they were performing long before 1977. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.22.255.23 (talk) 17:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- Their recollection was November 11, 1977; see the edit I made today.1archie99 (talk) 22:20, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
