Race/ethnicity of parents

[edit]

Hello, everyone!

This is my first time talking on Wikipedia, and for some reason I felt compelled to reach out. I just learned about Rick Owens through a youtube video and it led me to learn more about him on Wiki. After reading his background I saw the first few sentences about his parents. The article mentioned his father John and his mom Concepcion, nicknamed Connie. The next sentence is "Connie is Mexican".

This sentence was offputting to me. Why are we only mentioning Connie's ethnicity and not John's? It seems like the assumption is that John is white and so leaving that out feels like it is normal/or goes without saying that he is white but that his Mom is Mexican. Why don't we name both parents and their race/ethnicities if it is important?

It seems like another way to draft this is "Rick is the son of John Owens, who is white of [insert ethnicity] descent and Concepcion Owens, who is of Mexican descent. He grew up in a conservative..."

Thank you for considering this! Sara somebody (talk) 02:13, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notable designs/Notable collections sections moving into Career

[edit]

HI everyone, I'm working on this page for a college class and I wanted to propose a few major edits before doing anything. The Notable Designs and Notable Collections sections could be moved into the Career section. The career section could then be organized and expanded into subsections. Right now the Notable Designs/Collections are also missing a few citations, and could benefit from the move to Careers for clarity. Please let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions, thanks! Jgourl (talk) 17:12, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
