COI edit requests
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi, I work for a communications firm that represents Synaptics and I'd like to suggest several updates to this article:
- Infobox: removing the
| caption
parameter and replacing with:
| birth_date = 1964 or 1965 (age 59–60)
- | residence = San Jose, California[1]
- | alma_mater = University of Colorado
| occupation = President and CEO of Synaptics[2]
- Removing unsourced
(born 1963)
from lead. - Removing last two sentences from lead ("He had been a longtime executive in the graphics chip business, serving in many positions at ATI Technologies before it was acquired in 2006 by AMD. In May 2015, he was appointed to Maxwell Technologies board of directors.") to keep lead concise.
- Renaming "Education" section to "Education and personal life".
- Replacing first citation in "Education and personal life" section with a secondary source rather than a primary one:
[2]
- Adding to end of "Education and personal life" section:
He is an avid runner and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.[1]
- Combining "Early career", "At AMD" and "Awards" sections into single "Career" section. Adding information (including info bumped from the lead) and secondary sources, particularly to replace primary sources:
Bergman began his career at IBM, and later worked in management roles at Texas Instruments, Inc. and Exponential Inc. He was chief operating officer at S3 Graphics until January 2001.[2] He then served in many positions at ATI Technologies before it was acquired in 2006 by AMD.[3] AnandTech wrote that Bergman was "instrumental in helping stage ATI's comeback as a player in the GPU space".[4]
In September 2011, Bergman departed AMD to become President and CEO of Synaptics.[7] In 2014, Bergman placed Bronze in Best in Biz's "Executive of the Year" awards.[8] He became a Director of Maxwell Technologies in 2015.[2]
- Removing "Media coverage" section as non-notable.

For reference, all these proposed edits are mocked up in my sandbox. Due to my COI, I won't be editing this page directly, so I'd greatly appreciate any help or feedback. Thank you! Mary Gaulke (talk) 21:11, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
- Done, for the most part. I've made a few minor changes, most notably, vetoing the contents of the "awards" section. I'm not a fan of including awards that haven't demonstrated their significance, particularly when they require an entry fee to participate. Altamel (talk) 03:29, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
