Why twice?

[edit]

Focus on the Family and Coral Ridge Ministries are listed twice as causes supported by the foundation. Is there a particular reason for the duplications? Niteshift36 (talk) 00:08, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Connection

[edit]

If you look at the list of orgs assisted at the Philanthropy Roundtable site [1] and the list in this article, you'll see a lot of the same names. Niteshift36 (talk) 18:18, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I removed text that was directly plagiarized from this source. This content was apparently copied and pasted directly from the source article, which is a clear violation of WP:COPYRIGHT: "The foundation has been a major funder of many extreme socially conservative organizations such as the Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, and Coral Ridge Ministries. In 2011, the DeVos foundation gave $3 million to Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group created and funded by the Charles Koch and David Koch. The DeVos Foundation gave another $2.5 million to the Koch conduit DonorsTrust from 2009 to 2010. The DeVos foundation has also contributed millions of dollars to other right wing organizations such as the State Policy Network, Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute, FreedomWorks, Federalist Society, Mackinac Center for Public Policy, Young America’s Foundation, and others." Titling of Section: "Donations" More Accurate Than "Grant-Making"

[edit]

I substituted a revised title ("Donations") for the section describing the organizations to which the foundation has donated. It was previously labelled "grant-making" but it's unclear how much of the foundation's donations are in the form of grants per se; "donations" is a clearer and more readily understood term; and it is consistent with what the bulk of the highest quality secondary sources cited have used -- almost none of them even mention the word "grant" and instead use "donations". Seems minor enough but figured good idea to post the rationale anyway. Cheers! Rhode Island Red (talk) 21:48, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good change, thanks. Marquardtika (talk) 22:16, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
