Hi, I'll be looking over this one. APK hi :-) (talk) 06:49, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
Lead...
- Done Per MOS:CITELEAD it's unnecessary to have citations in the lead.
- Done Add (USGS) after the first use of United States Geological Survey in the lead. In the second sentence, it's abbreviated U.S.G.S., then USGS in the next sentence.
- Done Abbreviate the second time United States Geological Survey is written in the lead.
- Done Panama Canal Company is linked the second time it's mentioned instead of the first.
- Done There's a semicolon after "Alaksa" but then commas used in the rest of the sentence.
Early life...
- Is there any more content that could be added? I understand if there's a lack of sources. Done I brought over some info that I had found for the article on his father. I think it is good to add the slavery aspect. I have yet to find a specific name for his childhood home, although it does have a state historic marker (for his father).
Career...
- Done "the plateau region north of the Grand Canyon in Colorado" - Makes it sound like the Grand Canyon is in Colorado or that Utah is north of the Grand Canyon. If you meant northeast, then use that.
- Done Add spacing here: "Railroad Survey(also called"
- Done "In 1886, he was supervised surveys in Texas" - Get rid of the "was"
- Done "In May of June of 1888" - Do you mean "or" instead?
- Done Rhode Island is not linked, but the other states are.
- The third paragraph is one sentence. I would combine it with the next paragraph.
- Done Kansas, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington are linked twice.
- Done "Society" is not included in the link with National Geographic. Add the abbreviation so it can be used in the next section.
- Done "U.S.G.S." again and it needs a comma.
- Done Comma after C. in Washington, D.C.
Professional affiliations...
- Done Comma after "Club"
- Done Unlink National Geographic Society and change to NGS.
Honors...
- Done I think it should be "named after him" instead of "named for him" but I could be mistaken.
- Done Unlink California and Alaska
- Done Add the km conversion after "vertical mile"
Personal...
- Done Unlink Washington, D.C.
- Done Unlink President Grover Cleveland
- Done Colonial-style should link to Colonial Revival architecture
External links...
- Is there something notable about the Map of northern Virginia? (hi, that's where I am) Done Not really. I will move it to the list of maps.
I found more Done info about his death and burial place if you want to add that. This one has good info if you haven't seen it.
It was a pleasure to learn about Goode. Thanks for writing. Let me know if you have any questions. APK hi :-) (talk) 08:21, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

- Starting review.
- @Rublamb: Do you have a preference for which image should be "pictured". Thanks, Zeete (talk) 13:31, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Promoted to Good Article late on 12/4/23 (close enough to 7-day limit), DYK check reports over 6,700 characters, well cited, neutral, earwig reports violation unlikely (10.7%), QPQ done, hook interesting, length checked ok, cited individually in four parts, portrait image ok, Mount Goode image questionable (low resolution, uploader has only 2 contributions). Zeete (talk) 14:20, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Zeete:Sorry, for some reason I never saw your photo questions. I am fine with your recommendation to use the portrait photo. Rublamb (talk) 16:20, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Rublamb: Good to go! Great biography of a geographer and world explorer. Please check that the hook is now correct. Thanks, Zeete (talk) 16:35, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
