Inventing the teddy bear
[edit]The invention of the teddy bear has also been attributed to Morris Michtom (and his wife Rose).

- Mary Bellis. "History of the Teddy Bear". about.com. Retrieved 2007-03-12.
- "Rose and Morris Michtom and the Invention of the Teddy Bear". Jewish Virtual Library. Retrieved 2007-03-12.
- "History of the Teddy Bear". The Teddy Bear Museum. Retrieved 2007-03-12.
The last reference, the Teddy Bear Museum, gives some context.
- 1894 - an early stuffed bear by German toy company Gebrüder Sussenguth.
- 1897 - Steiff company toy has toy bear in catalogue and at toy fair
- 1899 - Margaret Steiff gets patent on a few soft toy bears
- 1902 - Morris Michtom sells the first "Teddy’s Bear" in his toy shop in the U.S.
So, "teddy bear" and even toy bear / stuffed bear are not correct. — ERcheck (talk) 03:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to remove the statement from the introduction that he is credited with "inventing the Teddy bear". — ERcheck (talk) 03:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
