The section entitled 'The Australia Institute' reads as propaganda and should be removed. In the absence of a contest on this matter I am proposing to remove it altogether and if any part is to be retained incorporate it in another section. Gumsaint (talk) 01:41, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
The content in the section entitled 'The Australia Institute' belongs on a page about the institute and here appears to be an assertion of a favourable POV without a clear justification of its purpose. Gumsaint (talk) 03:19, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
As stated above I am proposing to remove the section and looking for some arguments why it should stay and some precedents for such an inclusion in a page about a notable person. Gumsaint (talk) 03:24, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- I don't object to removing the second two paragraphs in that section from this page (although the first is necessary context here) - because you are correct, they belong on a page about the institute - but the claims of POV are nonsense. The Drover's Wife (talk) 03:41, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for that - it's a straight-forward problem easily fixed.Gumsaint (talk) 04:01, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
As he claims to be an economist, it would be useful to add his academic credentials (e.g. degrees). This would seem to be pretty basic information for a page like this. Derek Pyne2 (talk) 15:09, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- There's no Wikipedia convention that such an addition is necessary and in fact it would be absurdly fraught - how could you authenticate the details. Gumsaint (talk) 22:04, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- I just checked about five entries for economists (some famous and a couple not so famous). They all have something about education mentioned. The information is usually publicly available from either biographies or public profiles (although the Wikipedia entries I checked don't always cite a source). Nothing comes up in my searches but I would think that someone writing in this entry might have that much information about him. Derek Pyne2 (talk) 18:57, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- The reference to conventions wasn't to economists credentials but to public figures generally. Gumsaint (talk) 08:17, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
