New Republican in Gay Sex Scandal
[edit]- discussion moved from Talk:Larry Craig -- Diletante 03:46, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
It has just been reported that Richard Curtis (politician), also an opponent of gay rights like Larry Craig, has been caught in a gay sex scandal. This is backed up with a police report.PoliticsWorld 16:38, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- What relevance does that have to this article? And your saying it has been reported is worthless without a citation. - Crockspot 16:44, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- As I pointed out on your talk page, a police report is a primary source, which is not as valuable to Wikipedia as a secondary source (the newspaper article that you failed to cite, but which I have cited in the Curtis article). One of the reasons that we prefer the secondary source is that it tends to be more NPOV. For example, in this case, the newspaper article points out that the person making these accusations is now under investigation for extortion. Leaving that little bit out gives undue weight to the accusations, which may, in fact, turn out to be completely fabricated. Great job on your first article, you already have your toes over the BLP line. - Crockspot 17:01, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- According to The Columbian, Richard Curtis has now admitted of having gay sex with Cody Castagna. See: http://www.columbian.com/news/localNews/2007/10/10312007_Report-Curtis-admitted-tryst.cfm PoliticsWorld 17:05, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- The new story still seems a bit muddy. It appears that Curtis is claiming that he was drugged. I would wait for more reporting, but again, the relevance to Larry Craig's article is elusive. - Crockspot 18:21, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Richard Curtis has now resigned. Any more excuses Crockspot? http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/10/31/america/NA-GEN-US-State-Lawmaker-Extortion.php67.169.43.75 03:00, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Just for completeness' sake, Curtis' opposition of gay-rights legislation is documented. See:

- for Curtis' voting record against an antidiscrimination bill and a domestic-partnership bill. In light of his antigay voting record, his sexuality becomes relevant because it reveals hypocrisy, at the very least. Rangergordon (talk) 07:51, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
