[edit]I updated the discussion to note the absence of grocery stores and to emphasize the somewhat funky but amiable quality of the Village. Also, the area bounded by the defined core is only 6 blocks. The true extent includes eight blocks (including the two full blocks north of Rice Blvd) and the facing portions of Morningside and University, which would up the total to about ten blocks. The shopping area really extends irregularly north, so the original 16 block statement is probably accurate, though not as stated by reference to streets. I changed the reference to the distance from Rice. Two blocks sounds very close to Rice, but with the large intervening distance between the populated part of the campus across playing fields, parking lots and Rice Stadium, it is far more accurate to say a half mile, as indicated in the revised text.
This is an encyclopedia, not a billboard.
[edit]This article states "Many Rice Village restaurants are popular nighttime attractions. One of the most popular of them is T-spot Drinks on Bolsover." Is that based on "gross sales"? Average daily headcount? One man's opinion? Wishful thinking? Perhaps the study used for that finding should be cited. The rules state that "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." While it may currently be a popular place, will it be in 5 years or even 5 days in the future for that matter? mtnkjn 14:57, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
