- Please assume good faith of your fellow editors, which is paramount to working collaboratively on the encyclopedia. The article was redirected (rather than deleted) in accordance with notability guidelines for articles on musicians. You can read more about the guidelines here: WP:MUSICBIO. The guidelines call for redirecting articles about musicians to the article for the bank, when notability has not been established independent of the band itself. I have gone ahead and placed the references you provided here, as external links within the article. However, after reviewing the sources, independent notability remains to be seen. Please review the notability guidelines and work to accurately establish notability for this individual musician. Anything less may result in actual deletion, rather than merely redirecting the article. Also, please remember to sign all your talk page comments. [edit]To add to this article: more about her family background. Is she part Scottish? I believe her first name is of Celtic origin. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 19:14, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- Her father is white. Per https://www.houseofnames.com/giddens-family-crest , Giddens is a Welsh name. Per the WP Rhiannon article, that name is also Welsh. Acwilson9 (talk) 05:39, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
Note that Rhiannon Giddens and Michael Abels wrote an opera, "Omar", about Omar Ibn Said, enslaved and brought to America in 1807, based on his autobiography. See the L.A. Opera page, it is being presented fall 2022. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulthedesertrat (talk • contribs) 19:43, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
Note that in 2020 Giddens was named Artistic Director of Silkroad (https://www.silkroad.org/rhiannon-giddens-announcement), which was conceived by Yo-Yo Ma in 1998, “a touring ensemble comprised of world-class musicians from all over the globe, and a social impact organization working to make a positive impact across borders through the arts.” (https://www.silkroad.org/about) Giddens' initial major project is American Railroad, which, according to the Silkroad website, “will illuminate the impact of African American, Chinese, Irish, Mexican, and Native American communities on the creation of the Transcontinental Railroad.” (https://www.silkroad.org/american-railroad)Srgreene76 (talk) 17:01, 24 July 2022 (UTC)srgreene76
