Her father is white. Per https://www.houseofnames.com/giddens-family-crest , Giddens is a Welsh name. Per the WP Rhiannon article, that name is also Welsh. Acwilson9 (talk) 05:39, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note that Rhiannon Giddens and Michael Abels wrote an opera, "Omar", about Omar Ibn Said, enslaved and brought to America in 1807, based on his autobiography. See the L.A.
