- ... that retelling of classic tales is a common occurrence? Source: https://researchers.mq.edu.au/en/publications/retelling-stories-across-time-and-cultures

General: Article is new enough and long enough |

Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems |

Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation |

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: Overall, the article meets all the criteria for warranting a DYK blurb, and QPQ has been satisfied, but I'm concerned that your proposed hook, in my opinion, doesn't seem that interesting or attention-grabbing. Do you think there's something else interesting you could bring up about retelling aside from how common it is? JJonahJackalope (talk) 21:15, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- @JJonahJackalope: Sure. How about: --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:31, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that retelling of stories has led to emergence of, among others, feminist retellings focusing on previously marginalized or inexistent female characters?
- Piotrus, that definitely sounds more interesting, though if I could make an edit to the phrasing, maybe something like:
- ... that the feminist retelling of stories can focus on previously nonexistent or marginalized female characters?
- Let me know if this sounds good to you. JJonahJackalope (talk) 13:24, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- @JJonahJackalope: Yep, it does :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:33, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Great! I have no further concerns and will go ahead and approve that alt. JJonahJackalope (talk) 15:37, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Returned from Q7 per this post at WP:ERRORS as both article and hook need further work. Gatoclass (talk) 22:01, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Gatoclass: Neither me nor the reviewer were pinged and we just noticed this - please WP:ECHO relevant editors in the future, if you could. This seems like a very minor issue; I've added "nonexistent or marginalized" to the article body (fair point those words should be used there, thanks for noticing I forgot to elaborate there on this issue). Regarding the sentence " properly retold story should convince the reader to see the new version as more correct" I really do not see what's wrong with it, but I'll ping a friendly copyeditor and native speaker Nihil novi and perhaps they, or the reviewer JJonahJackalope, would like to comment on this or rewrite it. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:02, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- I've done some copyediting of the article which I hope will be helpful. Nihil novi (talk) 03:56, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. @JJonahJackalope: - can you re-check it again? TIA. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:24, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Piotrus:, I have reread the article and I believe that the edits have improved the quality of the page. Taking into account the post at WP:ERRORS, mentioned earlier in this discussion, would you be okay with a slightly reformulated version of their recommended DYK hook:
- Thank you. @JJonahJackalope: - can you re-check it again? TIA. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:24, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- ALT2: ... that the retelling of stories can focus on female characters to reflect the feminist perspective?
- Let me know what you think. -JJonahJackalope (talk) 13:36, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @JJonahJackalope: Sound good. I've named it ALT2 and the previous ALT1, and I am fine with your ALT2, I think it represents the main point in a simple and elegant way. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 00:32, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Is everything good to go now? The nomination technically times out in a week, so just making sure everything's resolved so this can finally run. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:52, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
Since the previous reviewer has proposed ALT2, a new reviewer should check it just to be safe. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:15, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
GTG. No issues with the article or the hook. 💽 🌙Eclipse 💽 🌹 ⚧ (CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST) 12:36, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
