Why is it being deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Screamfan123 (talkcontribs) 23:40, 6 November 2008

There was a concern that the article lacked references. If you can find references such as film reviews for the film (rather than the musical), please add them to the article. -- Eastmain (talk) 00:29, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • At Afd, an editor Fletcher pointed out that one of the quotes I was proffering was from the 2005 film, and not Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway. When I verified that he was correct and that I had grabbed the wrong quote, I removed it HERE. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:54, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The information removed HERE was not a falsehood, but a simple and easily corrected booboo. I had thought that since the songs were (suposedly) the same, there was no need to have them listed twice. So I removed the long list and set the link. However, since the songs were sung by the closing cast and guest members of earlier cast, this specific listing is thus unique to Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway and I have returned the entire list as originally existed in this article. My thanks to User:Franamax for bringing this mistake to my attention. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It would be nice to include a list of the people who come on stage for the Seasons of Love finale, apart from the OBC--Shinra07 (talk) 21:45, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Songs

[edit]

Well... when I first began cleanup, the article pretty much consisted of only that list of songs. They really did not add anything to a reader's understanding of the article... being simply a list. I removed them, erroneously made an in-article link to a similar list of songs in another article, and now brought them back after the removal of that mislink I believe my original instinct to remove them was the correct one, and am of the opinion to remove them again as I did before... but this time have no link to other (incorrect) versions. It was my linking them somewhere else in an attempt to please everyone that was a mistake. Now, of the 44 somgs in this article's playlst, 5 could be blue-linked to seperate stub articles.... but inclusion of them here does not contribute to the readers' understanding of THIS topic. So, I have posted the following two questions here and will them here hoping for a response from interested editors:

1) Should the list be kept, or removed for the reasons stated above?
2) If the list is removed, should any mention be included in the article of factors that set the closing night's songlist apart from the lists in the other articles?

I would remove the list of songs; Wikipedia is not a program guide. Significant changes to it might be discussed, if there are any.
I would also convert the bullet point list of quotes to prose, quoting just the most salient reviews (i.e. mostly Rolling Stone), and using others as simple references instead of quotes. Many are vague and redundant with each other. In my experience a good Critical Reception section is not just a jumble of quotes culled from various sources, but explains how the work was received, using references and selected quotes to support the explanation. Fletcher (talk) 19:19, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As for removing the list, I appreciate that we are in agreement. Sensible. However, the very last song of the closing night show was a special reprise that included many members of the original troupe joining in... specically staged for the filming. Do you think a mention of that being captured might be in order?
I will also work on your suggestion of converting the bulleted list of quotes to a more succinct prose... and will then move extraneous quotes to external links so that readers might follow them to read complete reviews themselves. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 19:50, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's fine to mention the special reprise. Fletcher (talk) 19:57, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Title?

[edit]

The article is titled "Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway" while the Lead opens with "RENT: Filmed Live On Broadway". At very least, the O in On should be standardized as either Caps or not Caps. I can understand the lower casing of Rent, due to wikipolicy of not following the capitalizations of trademarks

Quotes

[edit]

I don't know what is up with that section, but that entire section either needs to be completely gone or at the very most incorporated into the article, at the risk of the entire article losing its neutrality. Anonymous~Source (talk) 01:14, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
