POV

[edit]

This article reads like a thinly veiled advertisement for PROTECTOR. The page content should be information as to what an RWS is, with an Examples section that links to various examples of specific RWS implementations. Krb106 15:28, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tried to fix that. Tmaull 14:27, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DIY RWS

[edit]

Reportedly, someone named John Lockwood has created his own remote weapon system using a webcam and a regular hunting rifle. As such, it is possible to make a remote weapon system yourself (DIY). Please take a look at DIY RWS and include it into the RWS wikipedia article. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.245.183.252 (talk) 09:50, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think thats not a good idea. Yes it is possible to make one with some servo motors and a bracket. Woohoo. This is still an encyclopedia, not a DIY guide.Tmaull 12:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested moves

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page moved. I am regarding this as uncontroversial despite the history, see below. Andrewa (talk) 18:58, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Remote weapon systemRemote weapon station — Never heard it called a system. There are 163 GBook results for station and 19 for system.Marcus Qwertyus 03:23, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

In case of further discussion of the name, here is some page history overwritten by the last move. It is not significant for copyleft purposes but the edit summaries might be important in further discussion. Andrewa (talk) 18:58, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Revision history of Remote weapon station
(cur | prev) 14:12, 10 February 2011 Nyttend (talk | contribs | block) (34 bytes) (It's been at the other title for several years; please don't move without discussion) (rollback | undo)
(cur | prev) 00:26, 10 February 2011 Marcus Qwertyus (talk | contribs | block) (83 bytes) (Requesting speedy deletion (CSD G6). (TW)) (undo)
(cur | prev) 18:59, 7 September 2008 Redirect fixer (talk | contribs | block) (34 bytes) (Remote Weapon System has been moved; it now redirects to Remote weapon system.) (undo)
(cur | prev) 00:26, 9 May 2007 Tmaull (talk | contribs | block) (34 bytes) (moved Remote weapon station to Remote Weapon System over redirect: System is a more common name for these systems.)

Any further move proposals should of course provide evidence, as the proposer of the most recent, unopposed move did, rather than just expressing a personal belief or preference. Andrewa (talk) 19:01, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
