Merge discussion

[edit]

Please do not merge the articles. A "moving company" and a "relocation company" are two different types of business enterprise. Many moving companies have the word "relocation" in them, true, but so do many residential real estate brokerage agencies. Does anyone think we need to merge Moving company and Real estate broker as well? Relocation services comprises employee benefits related to their transfers from one city to another. This type of work is often performed by Human resources professionals within a corporation who specialize in managing employee relocation."Relocation management services" are third-party companies that will run a corporation's relocation program on an outsourced basis. They may be involved in hiring a moving company, or auditing the moving company's bills, but they also juggle all the income tax issues for the transferring employees (relo benefits are taxable in the U.S. and other countries) and their employers and hire real estate agents to sell the old house, find them a house in the destination city, and even provide advice on good schools, etc. So this is an HR thing, not a trucking thing. Perhaps the article should be re-titled "Employee relocation services" instead. Thanks for calling for this discussion! Riskplaya 04:21, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This Relocation_services seems to get most of it's information from Worldwide Employee Relocation Council. I'm considering taking out most of the content on this page, since displaying it twice doesn't seem necessary. I'd just talk about various relocation services. Any comments? Seems like most of the source material comes from the erc website anyways.

In addition to bringing in content based on a broader group of sources, I've been culling back a number of external links placed by advertising/directory sites that are all focused on household goods (HHG) moving companies. Some of the sites contain useful consumer information (specific to US, mostly) but they are basically sales-lead aggregation sites with no content related to the practice of workforce mobility or employee relocation management. The best place to discuss this category of business is the Moving company article. --Riskplaya 16:22, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bears bees and spiders? I dont know how to edit or mark for vandalism on wikipedia, otherwise i would do it myself. The comment is pretty funny I loled, but still I respect wikipedia, it should be removed.

It's in the chart that shows MNC's, TNC's and, GNC's and it says in the bottom column which of the three sell bees, bears, or spiders.

If you'll read the text of the article, re: bees, bears, spiders, there is an explanation of the metaphor coined by the Australian professor. It is not "vandalism" Riskplaya 03:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
