Category "Destroyed Landmarks"
[edit]The category "Destroyed Landmarks" features some reconstructed buildings, but is a true misnomer with regard to the "resurrected" ones. Robert Schediwy 86.32.215.9 (talk) 05:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Reconstruction or replica?
[edit]As I understand it, a reconstruction in architecture (as in shipbuilding) is the creation of the original plans from archaeological evidence. A newly constructed building is a replica. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 02:25, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about that but it may be so. Archaeology isn't my field. I do know that "reconstruction" is used in the sense of rebuilding damaged or destroyed buildings, up to the most extreme form which would be a completely new building built to the original plans (a replica). If the archaeological term can be sourced, I see no reason why it could not also be included in the article.--Yeti Hunter (talk) 13:42, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Category:"Rebuilt buildings and structures"
[edit]There is now also the above category, but it mixes true reconstruction with edifices simply "rebuilt" in a different way. Robert Schediwy --86.33.64.63 (talk) 09:53, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Organisations
[edit]I started adding organisations that engage in building reconstruction around the world. Please add some if you know any in your region/country! Thanks. :) Cheers Horst-schlaemma (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not quite sure what classical architectural organizations have to do with reconstruction? Most of these seem to be focused on new classical buildings, not ones that are based on prior existing structures. Morgan Riley (talk) 15:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I have deleted this section. I fail to see the connection these organisations have with the subject of the article. And any such list (even if it was connected to the subject) is going to be pov since it will be selective and risks becoming commercial advertising. Sorting examples
[edit]Hi, I'll try and sort the examples chronologically and geographically.
With this note, I'll point to some examples I will add:
