Drive
[edit]I have removed this from the article:
Harrell wrote and performed a song called "DRIVE" for the film which was shortlisted for a 2009 Academy Award for Best Original Song.[1]
because what the cited article actually says is only that the song was eligible for nomination. This is not "being shortlisted", and is not a mark of distinction – every original song that appears in a movie is eligible for nomination. —Paul A (talk) 01:27, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Let me try that again: "Drive" was not shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. To the best of my knowledge, there is no "shortlist" for Best Original Song – a song is either nominated, or it isn't. Nothing in the article cited above contradicts this. —Paul A (talk) 16:45, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Drive was indeed shortlisted:) Please see Rolling Stone article: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/12/17/springsteen-mia-jenny-lewis-short-listed-for-best-song-oscar/ where they highlight 7 of the 49 shortlisted songs, then click the link to view the complete list of shortlisted song - among which is Harrell's song Drive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fuelthefilm (talk • contribs) 25 June 2009
That's exactly the same list as the one I've already said doesn't contradict me. It's not a shortlist, despite Rolling Stone's sloppy wording, because there is no other list that it is shorter than: it's the full list of eligible songs. It includes every eligible song from every movie released that year. Being on that list is not a mark of distinction, it's a recognition of nothing more than the song's existence. –Paul A (talk) 02:19, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
