Duet version

[edit]

Per this source there will be a duet version ([1]) but there is not source stating it will be a single. It may be released but until there's a source it should remain off this page. --Caldorwards4 02:19, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ready, Set, Don't Go

[edit]

On Mediabase today (Sunday afternoon) it shows that the song is at number 35 which means that the song will be at least 36 on Billboard this week. Why was the reference that the song has reached the Top 40 on the country chsrts taken out? --BravesFan2006 01:19, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ogg sample

[edit]

I am requesting an ogg sample of the song for the "Background" section. It IS NEEDED to be at a GA status. I would do it myself, but I cannot download any program due to various reasons. Pllease upload the file if it is possible. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 19:44, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article is well written and coherent, it appears stable and there are no glaring issues. There are a few minor points which I'll outline below. HJMitchell You rang? 15:36, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Issues

[edit]
  • Close repetition of "The song" (particularly in paragraph 2 of the lead). Not something that would derail a GAC, but worth addressing
Done — removed the repetition of "the song". EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 16:13, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The media and the infobox all crammed together make it look a little cluttered. Could the image or the audio clip possibly be moved to the left hand side to make it look a little more professional?
Done — Moved the audio clip to the left. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 16:09, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • On a similar note, try to give the name of the song for the first mention in a section
 Done EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 16:13, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "greater commercial success" (for the duet version)- greater than what? Miley's album (mentioned immediately prior) or than Billy Ray's previous songs?
Comment — it says more than the original version. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 16:20, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is there a quote from Billy Ray's CMT interview we could use?
There's no quote but is this sufficient:

With Miley one of the nation's biggest teen sensations and the family now living in California, Cyrus answers openly when asked if he's worried that his daughter could succumb to the temptations and excesses that seem commonplace among young stars in Hollywood.

"I worry every day," he said. "Luckily, we go back to our roots. We're a faith-based family. We've always tried to live for the light. I'm the last guy to cast a stone at anybody. I've made as many mistakes or more than any of those kids have made out there. But I tried to learn from my mistakes, so I'm hoping that Miley can look at my life and some of the other things around here and just learn so she doesn't have to make those mistakes.

"She's got a good head on her shoulders and a good heart, but we do live in Hollywood. We pray every day that she's going to make good decisions. Then we pray every day that I'm gonna make a couple of good decisions, too. She's probably worried more about me than I am about her." -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 00:21, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's a pretty big chunk of text! I see your point. I suppose what we've got will have to do, obviulsy there's nothing in ther that could be easily lifted. It's not a huge issue anyway. HJMitchell You rang? 01:00, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is there anything more that could be added to the "critical reception" section? Though, obviously this won't have had quite the publicity of The Climb and others.
I knew this was going to be addressed, I couldn't find any. There was just allmusic and about.com. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 00:28, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't imagine it taking too long to address those. Once that's been done and I've checked the refs and the images, I see no reason why the article can't be promoted. HJMitchell You rang? 16:04, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I had a feeling that might be the case. It would eb a shame if that was the only thing to stand in the way of the GA nom and, frankly, if it were up to me I wouldn't let it. I'll have a look around other song GAs to see if there's a precedent. Failing that, I might seek advice from a more experienced reviewer. I'll let you know in an hour or so. HJMitchell You rang? 01:12, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've had a poke around current GAs and I think we can get away with this. For example, The Hardest Part (Coldplay song) is a GA and part of a Good Topic and has only slightly more analysis of the critical reception than this. After a few last quick checks, I'm fairly confident this'll make GA! HJMitchell You rang? 01:58, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

media

[edit]
  • For the audio clip, it needs to be specified why it is not replaceable (obvious, yes, but it needs to spelt out)
  • The second image, File:Billy ray and miley cyrus at kids awards.jpg states it's a work of a US Military official. Assuming this is so, there is a relevant tag for that which should be added to the description page and the website or wherever it came from should be specified

 Done Corrected everything. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 00:14, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
