Deletion?
[edit]This article is about the CEO and Chairman of one of the largest credit ratings in the world. There are many more articles worthy of deletion, specifically those about pharmaceuticals and other topics of extremely limited interest. There are hundreds of references to McDaniel all over business news online.
Request to review new Raymond McDaniel version
[edit]To any editor watching this page: for the last several months I have worked on a new draft of this article. This draft is posted to a my userspace here: User:Mysidae/Raymond W. McDaniel Jr. I wish to seek consensus to replace the current article with the new one, if interested parties agree that it is an improvement. It is important to mention that I have placed a request here rather than edit the article directly because I am a representative of Moody's and fully aware of Wikipedia's COI rules.
The new version is slightly longer than the current, and introduces features such as section headings and an infobox as well as carefully researched new information on Mr. McDaniel's career history and education. My aim with this draft is to provide an improved and focused treatment of Mr. McDaniel's career and biography, removing needless speculation and poorly written sections.
I should note that my draft does not discuss the change in Mr. McDaniel's benefits in 2010. An examination of the current version and reference leads me to make the following conclusions: the one independent reference used deals mostly with criticism of the Moody's board for making a change to McDaniel's potential payment should the company be sold. The events that would lead to such payment did not come to pass. The discussion of Dr. Henry McKinnell's salary belongs in his own article, if anywhere and is not appropriate this one.
I'd like to see this article improved and I hope to find consensus with independent editors to replace the current version with my draft. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 21:04, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the article and the new draft, and think the new draft is the better article by far; and I'm content enough that the criticisms in the current article are handled - better - in the draft than in the windy and undue manner of the current article. I'm content, too, to see the very long paragraph on pay disappear, in part for the reasons noted and in part because it smacks of POV. The main thrust is in the sentence " This information was not publicly disclosed prior to its announcement, and no statement explaining the action was released by the Moody's Board of Directors" ... is rather like complaining that something was not announced before it was announced. I'd want to be convinced there's an encyclopaedic issue here before it returns. I'll copy the draft across in a few days time, if no concerns are expressed here in the meantime. --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:34, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, I am very happy that you prefer this new treatment of the subject matter. I do also agree with your specific criticism of the complaints in the existing version. I look forward to the page being updated, when you feel enough time has elapsed and are able to revisit the topic once more. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 21:01, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- No probs. There being no long queue of nay-sayers, I have copied the draft across just now. Thanks again for your input and then your patience in these matters; much appreciated. --Tagishsimon (talk) 21:40, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
