I think, behind all the plumy voice, he was a pretty decent football commentator, he perhaps should have just covered football and maybe boxing as he had little interest in racing and was clueless about rugby union, all of which damaged him. There were stories about him being 3 parts pissed for the majority of the time, perhaps that played a role in MacKay favouring the hopeless Alan Clarke — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.130.84.30 (talk) 12:25, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
