is it true jamie foxx really did the singing in the movie? if so, lets add that Spencerk 05:56, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Some of it appears to be Jamie Foxx, some is Ray Charles. But then, my source is a little shaky. Not because it is IMdB, but because this particular recording of 46 tracks for the film is not available on CD. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0350258/soundtrack

I noticed under differences between factual events that in the film Ray composes Hit the Road Jack; in actuality, prior to his argument with Margie over her pregnancy, he mentions that Percy had just sent him some new music. You can hear him starting to play it using the Braille (or the musical notation equivalent) on top of his keyboard.

Fair use rationale for Image:Ray movie.jpg

[edit]

Image:Ray movie.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Charles was to see...

[edit]

Charles was to see an opening of the completed film, but he died before it came out, only adding to his legacy.

This is unintentionally funny. Rewrite suggestions, anyone?--UrbanGrill (talk) 18:01, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how such was in bad taste. Just as my usage of "see" in the first sentence is metaphorical, so was its usage here. In fact, in the movie, at least, Mr. Charles often used "see" matter-of-factly, without any apparent sense at humor or irony. It's just a figure of speech. We sometimes are too sensitive and "see" slights where none were intendedHistoryBuff14 (talk) 14:48, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Banned From Gerogia

[edit]

He wasn't banned from Georgia, as the film claims, and I feel someone should make th addition to the "Differences from noted events" section. 68.150.205.237 (talk)

Orphaned references in Ray (film)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Ray (film)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "bare":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 20:06, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Plot

[edit]

I've removed a reference to Ray Charles being deported from Canada as the film clearly establishes that he gives his concert in Canada and is arrested by U.S. Customs on his return.Dhodges (talk) 02:26, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
